Even at 44 you know when you are old when......

My niece turned 18 recently.

I woke up this morning and it took me a whole 2 minutes to walk to the bathroom to pee.

I was at a party recently and I spent most of the night commenting on the length (or lack of length) to the girls dresses.

I watch a Miley Cyrus music clip and do not find anything artist about it, I just find it insulting.

Yesterday I was more interested in listening to classical music than listening to what they were rabbiting on about on the commercial stations.

I use the words rabbiting on.

I go to bed at 9.30pm after a shower on school nights.

The thought of a cup of tea excites me more than the thought of a glass of champers.

I look closely at myself while I am applying my make up and find another sport or wrinkle.

I see an APIA advert for insurance for over 50's and realise that is only 10 years away.

A salesperson calls me Madam.

And, lastly, I know I am old when I start writing blogs about recognising I am getting old......

3.2% to go

I am writing this as I am sitting here ready to go to bed but the document I am downloading for tomorrow is only at 96.8% completed. Why am I always waiting for things. It seems like I have 3.2% to go in so many parts of my life...........

3.2% to go before a holiday
3.2% to go before I have that bill paid
3.2% to go on that blog that I am trying to write
3.2% to go before my hair is dry and I can go to bed
3.2% to go until I can move into my own place

We need that complete bar that pops up on your computer at the end of a download in every part of life.

OH, there it is now.....100% I can go to bed now!

Kellissima

I know this post has nothing to do with my current challenge but I had to share because I am so excited....I cooked a yummy Nigella Lawson recipe tonight for dinner & it was DELICIOUS!!!! It was her Shortcut Sausage Meatballs. There are a couple things I would do differently next time but it was great because I could use what I already had in the kitchen. I just wanted to share the pic.

Ciao for now

Quit your complaining

OK, I can honestly say I had NO idea I complained so much. I have caught myself in the nick of time about 20 times during the today but finally blew it at 6.30pm. I am coming up with some very creative ways to purge myself of some of the "comptoxins" in my body most of the time. That's right, I have made up a new word for it.But I feel like holding in all that angst is going to give me an ulcer, or that I might even blow up like Violet Beauregarde from Willy Wonka. Ahhh I can see it now, instead of being rolled off to the squeezing room I will be furled into the back of a nice white van and promptly deposited into a small room with padded walls, for the mentally restrained. I wonder if it is every going to feel natural for me to NOT complain.

So after resetting the Complain widget again, I am heading into my 3rd attempt. Surely this one will be a bit more successful, I can't imagine how I will feel if I have to press reset for the 4th time....

Stay tuned

Challenge Accepted

I love a challenge, I am quite picky and often will not partake if I think it will be boring or, well, let's face it, too hard. However I have found a challenge that I am excited about and feel would be awesome to attempt.....it is being complaint free for 30 day. Now this is going to be a huge undertaking for me because having a good old whinge (aka bitch session), is one of my favourite pastimes. Actually it's not, I think it is more of a habit with me. Technically I started Sunday but have already had a few slip ups and have had to start again twice.....It's not as easy as it seems........

I do have questions though, to avoid those afore mentioned slip ups......

What constitutes as complaining?
Does complaining in your head count?
Is Road rage complaining?
Is relaying a not so pleasant encounter or story with someone else deemed complaining?
Can you have a couple of mulligans, (really???? even I know that is not the point)

Me thinks some more investigating is warranted......

In determining what constitutes as complaining I suppose any time I express any of the following either verbally, through my actions, in my heart or in my mind I am complaining...

Anger, Frustration, Impatience, Annoyance,

..... And after consulting with a dictionary.....

Dissatisfaction, Pain, Uneasiness or Resentment.

Well, now all of those are covered I think I will breeze through these 30 days, (she says nervously biting her lip considering I feel most of these things at least once a day, normally when driving). It is a lot of commitment to not whinge, whine or even have a little grumble. Especially when you have been doing it for 42 years. I know, I know, I am 44 but give me a break; I didn't start talking until I was two.

Let me explain how I came about this idea. Like most things with me it was not an original thought, which are the most common thoughts I have - aka - not mine. I was updating my bucket list to include walking the El Camino Trail, (800km walk from France to Spain, but that's a whole other blog), I came across a website offering ideas for your bucket list and saw before me an interesting concept....try 30 days with no complaints. Mmmmm, I thought, what's all this about, I saw attached  to the article a link to this brilliant website www.acomplaintfreeworld.org
After checking out their idea I decided to give it a go. Their vision is brilliant and I love that it is based on a famous Maya Angelou quote "If you don't like something change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain." It is something that I have complete control over and it sounds fairly easy to do. All l have to do is NOT do something.....much easier than having to actually DO something!!!

N.B I did have this "it will be easy"thought before I actually tried it

I will be striving to complete this challenge successfully and I only hope in doing so I will change my attitude about things I cannot change and it will make me less inclined to complain about things that really are insignificant and don't need complaining about.

Wish me luck
